We've moved!

Pardon my silence over the past few weeks... we've been a little tied up.

Since my last post, we packed our Greensboro home and moved all three truck loads of stuff (who knew we had that much?) to our new home in Laurinburg. It has been a couple of weeks already, so the dust is starting to settle. We had a nice trip to Mary's Grandma's house for Thanksgiving last week.

James has been a true developmental champ in the past month. It was lucky that we moved when we did, because two days after the move, he started crawling on hands and knees. If we had stayed in the Greensboro house any longer, we would have had to baby-proof two houses. No, thank you.

His crawling has evolved over the past couple of weeks, beginning with a slightly unsteady wiggle... to now, where he races circles around the kitchen, looking for something to grab and use to pull himself up.

In one day last week, I taught him "give me five," which gets a good slap about 90% of the time. The other 10% he just stares at your hand and wonders why there is not a Cheerio in it. He also seems to be exploring his language skills a little more each day, mimmicking Mary's words and greeting us like Fonzi with a "heyyy..."

Mary has decided to return to teaching, at least through the end of this school year, to give her an opportunity to connect with our new community, as well as finish working off her college scholarship (she was a North Carolina Teaching Fellow, which requires four years of teaching in a NC public school to repay the full scholarship; she has done three years so far.). She has accepted a 9-12th grade English teaching job at the local "alternative" school. This is a school for kids who have a tough time in the traditional school setting and require a bit more attention. James and I are very proud of Mary.

I am adjusting well to having my office in the company headquarters. It is a little strange, after 4+ years working in an office by myself, to have co-workers right across the hall, but I already feel more connected in this setting and I am sure it will be great.
